Sarasota, FL – A Sarasota woman was arrested on December 27, 2023, after officers responded to the Florida Department of Corrections at 1844 17th St for an active felony warrant. The suspect, Jeanine Stanford, was detained by her probation officer while officers were en route. Upon confirming the warrant, a search revealed suspected methamphetamine in her possession.
Warrant and Search
Stanford had an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation (VOP) related to Petit Theft (Third or Subsequent Offense) (Case #2022CF008831). During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered two cigarillo packets and a small clear bag inside her front right jeans pocket. The cigarillo packets contained tobacco leaves mixed with crystallized powder, and the small bag contained a white crystallized substance consistent with methamphetamine.
Stanford immediately claimed that the pants she was wearing did not belong to her and denied ownership of the narcotics. However, a field test confirmed that the crystallized powder tested positive for methamphetamine. While officers conducted testing, Stanford insisted that the substance was “molly” rather than methamphetamine.
